Never Saw The Day’ cast - Spring 2005

At Walking Forward we treat our actors with the utmost respect and professionalism. We try to make the tours as enjoyable and carefree as possible and as a result have had the pleasure of welcoming back many actors who have worked for us time and time again.  It is important to stress that we specialise in Educational Dramas and are by no means a TIE company.  Our scripts are both humorous and hard-hitting and as such are a great platform to hone performance skills.

Rehearsals for shows usually last for two weeks.  They start off relaxed and informal, getting to know each other and the script, and work up to a slick and polished performance complete with set and full costumes that is ready to tour. Full support and encouragement is given right through this process up to the first performance at which the director will always be present.  The director will then visit the team regularly and is always contactable if any problems do occur.

Never Saw The Day’ rehearsals - 2003

On Tour

The shows are performed no more than twice in one day and in locations close to each other.  We endeavour to keep daily travelling to a minimum!  It is important to note that as in all educational theatre sets are constructed and dismantled by the actors themselves, there are no stage managers or crew. Therefore, it is vital that our actors are strong team members and are happy to get fully involved in this aspect of touring.

Rates of pay are above equity minimum and are excellent in comparison with many other theatre companies.  We don’t skimp on accommodating our actors either. We never put our actors in anything below four star self-catering accommodation

The most important thing to us is that our actors are happy and are able to enjoy themselves as well as keeping on top of their performance. Touring can be hard work and it is vital to us to keep the actors comfortable and stress free. It all leads to better performances for the audiences and job satisfaction for everyone involved!

Phillip Cotterill - Cat Ninelives 2005

“I have worked for numerous theatre companies now but my best experience by far has been with Walking Forward. I had so much fun in rehearsals and  the script for Never Saw The Day is superb. We were looked after so well in terms of pay and accommodation too. I will definitely want to keep working for them over and above any other touring theatre company.”

“Well just a little note to say thanks for all the great work you've put my way. I've had one of the best experiences since I've been an actor and also learnt more than I ever did in Drama school! So, If you need me again...don't hesitate to ask.”
