British Forces

Walking Forward have been working alongside British Forces since 1993 promoting Road Safety through dramatic presentations and have toured to UK, Northern Ireland, Hong Kong, Cyprus, Germany, Bosnia and Kosovo.

It is often hard for civilian workers to be accepted immediately into the Forces environment, especially on short visits to Barracks. However, once the production has been performed, there is a marked change and the team soon become warmly welcomed into the mess. Our teams are briefed to be courteous and punctual at all times and we welcome any comments or suggestions you may have to make the hosts job easier.

Actors are accommodated  and take their meals in either the Sergeants or Officers Mess and the assigned tour manager will always ensure that he/she is aware of the mess rules . If these rules are not being strictly adhered to, a gentle word to the tour manager will be appreciated. Mess rules vary greatly and the company mean no offence should we sometimes get it wrong.

It is important actors should stay in single rooms where possible. Should this not be available, twin rooms with single sex occupation are acceptable. Transit accommodation should not be used.

We welcome all ranks and civilian staff to our productions. The messages our plays contain are pertinent to everyone.

The productions are streetwise and contemporary, with amplified sound and sometimes instruments. There can often be colloquial language - but nothing gratuitous or offensive.

Please look at ’Venue Requirements’ or ‘Shows’ to see the facilities and type of layout that we require for each production.
